Tsitsikamma

ImageAt The Woods Guesthouse  If you’re “doing the Garden Route”, you simply have to stop in and explore the wild and breathtaking Tsitsikamma National Park. Stormsriver Adventures no longer have a dive centre at the Storms River mouth, but the snorkel and scuba trail are still there. If you have yourflown gear (or rent fins, a mask and snorkel from the shop) you can brave the slippery slipway and have some underwater fun.

Sadly, the views are better above the water than they are below. The trails are quite dificult to follow given the usually poor visibility and silted up markers, but on a good day it can be quite an entertaining little outing. It also gives you an excuse to stay at a wonderful new stop - the “At The Woods” in the Storms River Village.

The spacious and chic modern guesthouse has eight en-suite rooms and views to die for. You can gaze at the mountains as you sip on sundowners, laze on private decks or chill around the pool.

At The Woods is situated not far from the famous Big Tree and is the perfect base to explore the wonderful indigenous forests, beaches and other attractions of the Garden Route. After a long day out exploring and investigating, you have a relaxing retreat to return to.

ImageOwners Marco and Bev are wonderful and enthusiastic hosts who are fundis on the region and great entertainers, so a stay with them is like a “home away from home” experience. If you want to do some serious diving, Port Elizabeth is only an hour and a half away – but bets are that once you get to At The Woods, you’ll find  plenty of other distractions to keep you there!
